Viewfinder and Daily Maverick collaborate on their latest Investigative story
Accountability journalism start-up Viewfinder has released its latest investigative story in collaboration with Daily Maverick. Published on September 1, the story reports on the new agreement between the South African Police Service (SAPS) and the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) on holding police accountable for misconduct. Feminist non-profit organisation Quote This Women+ has received its first corporate contribution of R100 000 from Standard Bank in honour of Women’s Month. These funds will assist the organisation to expand its women+ expert database and its goal to challenge gender stereotypes and bias in the media.
Quote This Women+ successfully hosted a free online class sharing tips on how to handle tough media interviews. The training was led by QTW+ founder Kathy Magrobi who has over 10 years of experience in media. Kathy shared tools on how to tackle difficult interview questions and some tricks on staying calm while at it. The Outlier launches Data Tracking tools
Data journalism publication, The Outlier has launched two of their latest data tracking tools that provide access to South Africa’s Covid-19 vaccination statistics and unemployment statistics.
The vaccination tracker provides information on South Africa’s vaccination rollout and is updated daily. The unemployment tracker provides data on South Africa’s unemployment statistics. The information will be updated quarterly with the latest unemployment data. Read more here.
